Editorial guidelines

Aims of the magazine:
scientific updates for ophthalmologists, through the free publication of original articles or extracts from international journals in this field.

Topics:
original essays, research, clinical testing and also case reports aimed at supplying information on events of interest to the sector or related educational aspects.

The editorial staff will submit all contributions regarding clinical and surgical ophthalmology in every aspect (visual neurophysiopathology, psychophysical vision, physical optics, refractive surgery, contact lenses, refractive surgery, binocular vision physiopathology, instruments and tools, epidemiology, general diseases and visual functions) to the members of the scientific board.

Conditions of acceptance of contributions:
contributions received will only be published after having passed the review system (two favourable reviews out of three) as established by the scientific board which has the right to refuse publication or to request the authors to make modifications or changes in order for the presented article to be publishable.

Instructions for authors

Written contributions
The authors of scientific articles and clinical cases (for whose content they assume full responsibility) are requested to send their articles on digital media or via e-mail, complete with text in Italian and English, together with images. The relative area of study of the topic should be stated and selected from the following: clinical and surgical ophthalmology, semeiotics, visual neurophysiopathology, psychophysical vision, physical optics, refractive surgery, contact lenses, refractive pathology, binocular vision physiopathology, instruments and tools, epidemiology, general diseases and visual functions.

They must supply telephone number, fax number and e-mail address for communications with the editors.

Articles should be laid out as follows:

  • Title (max 90 characters)
  • Author/s: full name and surname
  • Institute of origin or work
  • Address for correspondence with the principal author

(you should also indicate telephone number and fax for the editorial staff)

  • Acknowledgements/financial support (optional)
  • Key words in Italian
  • Summary in Italian laid out as follows:

Objective • Basic procedure • Results • Conclusions • Notes (optional)

  • Key words in English
  • Summary in English laid out as follows:
  • Basic procedure • Results • Conclusions •‑Notes (optional)
  • Text in Italian and in English laid out as follows:

Bibliography
Abstracts and conference reports should be cited in the text and not the bibliography.

The bibliography should contain the following information in the following order:

magazine articles
surname and initials (not punctuated) name or names of the author or authors, title of the article, title of the magazine and volume number, pages on which the article appears, and year of publication

example:
Arnold AC, Hepler RS. Fluorescein angiography in acute nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. Am J Ophthalmol 1994;17:222-30

printed articles
surname and initials (not punctuated) name or names of the author or authors, title of the chapter (if any), title of the book, editor (if any), place, publisher, year of publication, pages referred to, or pages of the chapter cited

example:

Images and tables
Illustrations, tables and graphics should be attached with an indication of the necessary references for their correct insertion within the article.

Abbreviations
The first time an abbreviation is to be used, the word should be written in full and its abbreviation in brackets. Thereafter the abbreviation may be used.

Galley proofs, abstracts and correspondence with the editorial staff
Corrections of the first drafts will be carried out by the authors, following corrections will be carried out by the editorial staff.
